Name: Awareness Raising on Environment and Model of Waste DisposalGoals and objectives:
- The project aims at improving Tan Binh’s environment for the environmental protection strategy by raising awareness on environmental issues and health, especially environment and gender
- To promote full participation of local authorities and local people through a model of waste disposal in order to protect environment on the process of hunger poverty elimination and socio-economic development

Name: Training course on environment and model of waste disposalObjectives:
- To raise awareness on environment-related aspects, the consequences of polluted environment to people’s health and life, especially for women.
- To set up a model of waste collecting and organic waste disposal into organic fertilizer in the local.
Describe educational and learning methods/tools applied:
- Develop training materials on environment issues, related aspects, the consequences of polluted environment to people’s health and life, especially for women.
- To periodically campaign for environmental protection and cleaning, especially for the floating households by slogans and propaganda through local mass media.
- To set up a environmental hygiene team
- To build a workshop to process organic waste into organic fertilizer
- To train the environmental hygiene team’s members.
- To provide waste bins and to popularize how to collect and separate waste at home for the households, including the floating households

Outputs and final outcomes of the ESD activities. |
- The local authorities of relevant agencies and the local people, especially women will be aware of environment issues, related aspects, the consequences of polluted environment to people’s health and life, especially for women.
- An environmental hygiene team will be established. The team’s members will be responsible in collecting waste from the households. They will also be technicians in processing organic waste into organic fertilizer which can meet local requirement for their agriculture activities. Selling fertilizer will be a part of the team’s income.
- All of the households including the floating households will change their behavior of waste disposal in their daily activities. They will know how to collect and separate waste.
- The local environment will be improved and cleaner.
- To change gradually tourists’ habit of waste throwing everywhere
- Local people’s health and life will be improved thanks to improved environment.
- Model of the project would be expanded into other areas nearby

Name: Waste disposal in rural areas: setting up a model in Ninh Nhat commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province Goals and objectives: Setting up a model of organic waste disposal in Ky Vi hamlet (Ninh Nhat commune) will develop awareness of environmental hygiene for the households of these hamlets and will make organic waste useful for agriculture in enriching the land, increasing crop yields, and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. The project will protect not only ecological environment, but also the sustain of the agriculture. Name:1. Organizing a workshop to guide families to collect and classify household waste. 2. Training environmental hygiene teams in waste collection and disposal Objectives:
- To guide 500 households in Ky Vi hamlet to start collecting and classifying waste in their families
- To ensure a good livelihood for members of hygiene team after 10 months by producing and selling organic fertilizer and collected industrial waste

- 500 households in the hamlet have improved awareness of residents of environmental hygiene, especially in the use of separate waste bins and proper disposal of organic waste
- 80% farmers in the hamlet use of organics/microbiological fertilizers and decreased use of chemical fertilizers for clean agriculture production
- Hygiene team has produced microbiological fertilizer for 80% farmers in the hamlet to raise crop yields and enrich the land

Name: Training course on ecological sanitation and material flow management in Than Sa commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen provinceGoals and objectives: The population and all concerned stakeholders are informed on the project and aware of the principles of ecological sanitation and material flow management
- The population and the municipality of Than Sa have expressed their interest in the project and participated in related activities
- The population is able to make an informed choice of their future individual and communal sanitation system.
- Completion of a ecosan-baseline-study on the project area, containing all relevant elements necessary for the development of a holistic material flow management concept
- Elaboration (and demonstration) of several feasible settings of comprehensive material flow management concepts based on information from the baseline study and evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses. Participatory decision on the preferred setting and detailed description
- Contacts with funding agencies that are interested in financing the implementation of the proposed measures are established.
